| Abstract | Hypoadiponectinemia was diagnosed in patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes. Low-calorie diet leads to higher adiponectin levels. If body weight is lost at the same time, the level of adiponectin increases in proportion with the reduction in body weight. Weight loss is accompanied by diminished insulin resistance. |
